The Host - Philip Drost

I remember the first time I ever saw a live NBA game. My parents had gone on a trip to Italy, leaving me behind (on purpose, it wasn't a Home Alone situation) and I was bummed they didn't take me with. But I had just made the middle school basketball team, so Dad said he would take me to a Toronto Raptors game in Boston.

I agreed to the deal, though it didn't seem fair at the time. That would become a life-changing day. The Raptors won and from then on, I was obsessed. I soon realized I didn’t have the skills to go pro in any sport, but I did have a knack for telling people’s stories. So I combined the two interests, and that’s how Canada’s Court was born.
